Trew has an ability he calls “Perceiving”. With this ability, a very simple ability, Trew can calm his mind and see things at a very slow or even fast pace. It’s not a really big deal, most people have the ability to do this when frightened or adrenaline rushed, Trew can just do this better. It’s simply his mind speeding up the process to perceive his surrounding and so, understanding the situation in a much faster way, making time seem slow. Trew can also dull his mind out and make time seem to pass by quickly.

Trew was once a very happy person. He was making great grades in school, had a steady job and could still manage to play football and go to his after school extra history class on war tactics. He loved his little sister, looked up to his brother and father, and wanted to be a teacher like his mother. He was silly at times, serious when he needed to be, and a hoot to be around. Most everyone liked him because he had a bright personality. Trew didn’t get into fights often, being a popular person. It wasn’t that he was cool, or that he was on the football team. No, Trew was liked because he had a very forgiving way. He could also change his personality a bit to understand how the different cliques at school thought.

Of course, when he came to the Institute, things didn’t change too much. Kids liked him there too, but the teachers didn’t. Trew was a rebel, and could lift a student’s soul from the dirt the teachers shoved them in. because of this, his rebel side, Trew was almost always in trouble. He was beaten, and sent to the isolation room. It was hard, but one day he cracked. Or really, he grew smart. Instead of openly rebelling, Trew would hide himself away and quietly help the other students out. Finally, when everyone thought that he could be controlled, they made him a teacher.

Trew loves his job, and helps the students out as much as he can. He is, out of the rest of the teachers, the easily likable one. In his class he usually has a lot of activities and is active with his students. But there is a little part of Trew now that also makes him obey the Institute. He loves his students and is very friendly, but during a therapy time, Trew can be inwardly sinister. He is the good cop, but a cop still. Trew is also a bit of a joker and teaser. He often likes joking with the kids, while teasing the other teachers.

Appearance:

Trew isn’t a very tall guy, but a powerful one. He can easily intimidate the kinds if he wants to, which is rarely, or other teachers, which is often. But even so, Trew also has a kind look. His smile is usually friendly and bright, and he seemed to be always in a good mood. His clothes may show a bit of that as well. Trew likes wearing brighter colors that the dull ones most teachers would wear. It’s not a hot pink or anything, but red, blues or greens. What doesn’t seem to change are his brown shoes. No matter what, Trew wears his lucky brown shoes for a reason unknown.

And like most African Americans, Trew has dark, brown skin. His hair is black as well, along with his eyes. He also keeps his hair usually short. Not much else can be said about Trew though; however he does have scars along his back due to the Institute. Oh, and his silver wrist watch. This was something he got from his dad and was allowed to keep after so many years. And so, this silver wrist watch he always wears no matter what.

History:

Trew isn’t like many of the other residence at Hollowcove. He was born into a very normal family. His father was an Air force pilot, and his mother taught elementary school kids. He had an older brother, Damien, and a younger sister, Martha. He even had a pet dog, Luck. They were a very happy family. Trew’s powers weren’t a bother, and he never complained about them. Because of that there were no ‘insanity’ problems. In fact, Trew almost made it through all of high school before being found out.

It was just a normal day at first. Nothing but a normal, sunny day. Trew had only a month left before graduating high school, and then he was going to college. Which college, he wasn’t sure yet. LSU seemed good, but who knew? He had scholarships due to football, and because of an after school history class. In truth, due to his mother, Trew wanted to become a teacher too, a history teacher, for high school or even college kids. And then, of course, the Institute had to catch him. Oh how it had come about. Quite randomly actually. First it was telepath who had spotted out his powers, then someone else who had messed with it. Against Trew’s will everything would speed up or slow down greatly. He would run into things, do things or say things at very fast or very slow paces. His parents became afraid after a week, and it was then that Hollowcove came in to ‘take care’ of their son. He was just three weeks away from graduating.

Well, the rest of that time was spent at the Institute, and the time after. When they had found out that he wanted to be a teacher, they put him in for the job. They didn’t need his powers much anyways for any other purposes. During his time up until now, Trew has been beaten. His will, now bent. Most believe that he is now only a puppet without a brain. Oh how they don’t know what Trew still can do, still thinks about, and how he still acts.
