It was nighttime; the moon wasn't out, and the stars were covered by clouds. All was dark. Well, it couldn't exactly be light at night, could it? It was the perfect time for a rescue mission! Huzzah and other things. Link slowly crept away, being as stealthy as he could. Of course, he didn't really judge this break-out mission worthy enough to deserve his stealth, so he was just being about as stealthy as a water buffalo. Of course, that was just his personal opinion; others might consider an attempted Breaking & Entering & Rescue at Hollowcove a do-or-die kind of thing, but Link took life lightly. A bit too lightly. His head was generally filled with happiness and sunshine, and ponies with bright flowers. But this just served to cover up his inner serious personality, though some doubted he actually had a more serious personality. Why was Link attempting suicide by breaking in to Hollowcove? Well, because his little sister was in there! Silver Arcadia, Link's little baby sister. Well, not so much a baby, she was sixteen, but still. 'If she found out I call her my baby sister out of her company, she'd probably slaughter me. I can see the headlines now; Extraordinarily handsome Young Man dies in a Tragic Event! The whole world mouns his passing!' Link grinned, and crept some more. If he got Silver out, great! Well, it could also be bad, because she was slightly insane with scary powers. But if he got caught... an even bigger smile ignited on his face. That would be funny! Silver would kill him, but it'd be funny! He did his tiptoe impression across the grounds, to where the school was.

Please don't be so naive
You know you're not fooling anyone
You're not as tough as you think
With dirty second hands
Lia walked out of the school, grumbling a little bit. Why I wake myself up this late I just don't know, She complained to herself, but not too seriously. She knew exactly why she was up, and she knew it needed doing.
She walked quietly across the sidewalk, not being purposefully stealthy; that was just how she walked. She preferred silence over noisy walking. The element of surprise is always preferred over the nuisance of being known wherever you walk. She thought lightly to herself, looking around.
The night was beautiful, not a cloud in sight. Because Hollowcove was so secluded and most of the lights were off (only the guards were allowed outside at night, and since they had flashlights there were no lamp posts) the stars were big and bright, making Lia sigh with the beauty. Of course it only lasted a moment, Lia being who she was, but who could look at that gorgeous sky and not love it for even just a moment?
Sensing her own lapse in attention, Lia sharply looked around, scanning the darkness. And then she heard something. Lia turned towards the sound, suspicious.
She quickly ducked down behind a tree, leaning against the trunk to hide. She closed her eyes to focus harder on the emotions she was sensing.
It was... a teenager by his wacky emotions... happy, for some strange reason, a bit preoccupied with something... That something wasn't the same reason he was happy though... What was he here for?
She delved deeper, trying to understand. There was something underneath all the surface emotions... But what was it?... It was... a protective feeling. It was also slightly apprehensive. Why would this teenager be out in the middle of the night, feeling protective and slightly nervous?
The pieces clicked together in Lia's mind, and the thought came to her. He's on a rescue mission. This boy is trying to steal away somebody in the institute.
After double checking where he was using her empathy and making sure he still couldn't see her, she went to work. She began sending out signals to make him feel nothing. She drained away his emotions, slowly but surely making each emotion less and less deep, more and more empty. This always ended with the person in a trance. Without emotion, they turned almost into robots, having no desire to carry out their own will.
If their will was too strong, all she had to do was let a little bit of the emotion through, and pick out the least harmful emotion and let it loose. Usually it turned out to be sleepiness, and the person would nearly fall to the ground instantly, but sometimes it was just nervousness or fear. Any of them would work.
Are you really as tough as you think
You blink and you're over the brink
You bleed but you're blood runs pink

Link dashed up behind a bush, crouching. Then, he whipped his head to one side, then the other. He felt like a ninja! He had always wanted to be a ninja! They had such cool clothes and wicked skills... he carried on the narration in his head. Once he got started about something, it took a while to shut him up. He didn't notice that he was becoming less enthusiastic about his mission by the moment because his emotions were being drained away. But eventually, it started to take effect. Why was he even here? Who cared whether Silver got out? It was pointless, and he felt nothing about it anyways. He decided to sit down; who cared whether it was the middle of the night? It was about then that he realized that someone else was there, because of his permanent telepathy. He heard another voice in his head, female. Her thoughts were coming loud and clear out to him; he caught the echo of one. "'He's on a rescue mission. This boy is trying to steal away someone in the Institute,'" If he had been feeling himself, Link would have done something right then, but he felt almost nothing. Then, he realized what must be happening. Another person, him gradually feeling less and less..... stupid empathy people! He tried to shake his emotionless feelings off. He was here for Silver. Silver. His baby sister. He was going to get her, then they would run away, then he would buy ice cream, not to celebrate, but because he felt like it. 'Focus,Link, he told himself. 'Focus on the matter at hand,' With difficulty, he stood up again. Then, because he felt like it, said, "Hellooooooo? I know you're out there, empathy freaky not-very-nice person. It's not very nice of you to zap me with your powers, you know,"

Everyone dies
Everyone loves a fight
Nothing is sound
Nothing is right side right
Lia kept sitting, realizing that this boy must have a power of his own. But what is it? How does he know about empaths and that we can drain emotion as well as feel it? Is he one himself?
She kept her eyes closed; it was far easier to just feel for where he was and what he was feeling instead of looking for him in the dark. He had stood up... He was focusing on something, probably making himself fight her power. Impressive. She thought, a little smile coming on. I've got to watch out for this one.
"The object isn't to be nice," She called back. "If you want to know what it is maybe you should just come to the school with me."
Don't think of any plans, Lia thought, Just in case he's something different... Then her eyes narrowed as she considered a new train of thought. Let me pray I'm wrong. A telepath who knows what he's doing is dangerous.
She laughed out loud and stood up. If he knew what she was doing he'd know where she was. Better not to hide at all; it gave a better impression, and if she was going to... Stop Lia! Don't think of it! She ordered herself, for a moment furious.
She smiled sarcastically at him, moving around the tree she had sat behind and closer to the light and the school. Even if he's a telepath he doesn't stand a chance against me, Lia thought, eyeing him and his feelings. And it doesn't particularly matter if he feels my smugness or hears it. Only if he... Don't think that. Let's see how smart he is and if he can escape himself. Then something else occured to her, and her smile widened. Even if he heard me now it wouldn't matter. He won't leave without his... I actually can't tell who it is. A girl?... It doesn't have any tinge of lust to it... It must be his sister. She concluded. Happy is a yuppie word (word)

Link's eyes narrowed slightly as he listened to her thoughts. He shook his head; Empaths. And people thought telepaths were annoying. Well, he certainly was annoying, but that was his choice. He listened on to her train of thought, half-wishing it would crash somewhere along the railroad. But no. He wasn't here to mess with her mind. He was here for Silver. And this nice lady had just offered to take him to her! How generous of her! Sure, they might just keep him at the school and break down his will and all, but hey! An offer was an offer.
"Lia," he answered, after another moment of scanning her mind to check what her name was. "Would you really lead me to the school? How kind of you to offer! It really is quite nice of you. Maybe you'd even care to show me someone? She's one of your most psychotic, um... students."
Oh, sure, he knew who Lia was. How could he not, mind-reading abilities and all? He knew her sole aim was probably to lock him up as well, but that wasn't that important. Link didn't really care if he got locked up or not, because, well..... he was a bit of a moron. He'd worry about that later. Right now, his sole aim was to see Silver. And Lia was offering- well, more like ordering- him to go in to the school. Who was he to deny people? Sure, the school might strip you of your identity and make you in to a human weapon, but it did have his little sister.
"By the way," he added. "My name is Link Arcadia. And you might be?" It was only polite to ask, even if he already knew.

It's in her head
It's in her mind
She can't believe it
Can't believe she's running
Lia's smiled held in place, but she gave a mental twitch as he said her name in one sentence, proving that he knew not only what he could do but that he could also fish in her mind for what she was not directly thinking of. That's a good telepath, She thought, wanting to grind her teeth.
How outrageous, a boy his age already doing that. Of course, so had Lia, but that was beside the point. This child was an idiot, completely unlike her. He was happy to accompany her inside? Was this kid seriously that clueless, or did he want to walk into her trap? Maybe's he's just acting like an idiot so you would underestimate him and go and think something like that! Lia scolded herself. Not that it meant much, considering if he could find her name that wasn't in the forefront of her mind he could hear what she had barely been concealing too. Oh well.
She smiled sweetly at him. "I really don't know why I'm bothering to answer out loud. As you know, my name is Lia. And I would be delighted to show you in, Link, and take you to your sister. I must warn you though, she is unstable. Probably even worse since you last saw her. They tend to go into a dip where they only get worse, and then they improve, thanks to the Hollowcove Institute."
As Lia spoke she walked closer to the school. Quite a few steps away from Link now, she turned and gestured him to go with her. And any hold

Link snorted. "Oh, yeah, Hollowcove sure improves them." He blinked. Was that sarcasm? Yes it was! Oh, he was so proud of himself! He had finally gotten past the stupid stage to the sarcasm one! But that was beside the point. He knew as well as Lia that Silver was not crazy. Well.... okay, she kinda was, but Hollowcove wasn't for crazy people. It was for people gifted, like them, to be turned in to human weapons. Silver was dangerous enough. He couldn't allow them to harness her power and turn it on humanity. There would be no more Links if that happened! Oh, the horror!
He snorted. Oh, she thought he was outrageous? She was probably right, but she had been doing the same thing since she was his age, he knew. She was worse than him. Lia used her gift for manipulation and control. He used his for fun! Oh, and for the occasional extreme occasion like this.
He started following Lia, his long legs eating up the ground until he was almost right beside her. Remember, Link, he told himself, remember why you're here. Don't let some manipulator take Silver away from you again. "Great, I'm glad you're taking me to my little sis!" he chirruped happily. "I've missed her. Her name is Silver Arcadia, probably in the straitjacket at the moment. By the way, how many people at Hollowcove are gifted and/or crazy?" Just a little matter of interest.

Every day we still try
Every night we still cry
Driving home on the 805
We don't know what we're doing
We do it again
Lia refused to take his bait. If he knew so much, then why would he need her to show him his sister? Wouldn't he just use his all-knowing power to lead him there?
"Oh, that's right," Lia sneered, still looking forward. "No teachers are allowed in the students dorms, nor are any students around this late at night. It would be quite a job breaking her out of here without my help, wouldn't it? And you actually need me to do it. You can't just snoop around in my brain to get everything you want."
They stepped into the school and crossed the threshold finally before Lia answered him. She closed the doors behind them while saying, "Very few. It all depends on the child themself. I would tell you more, but then I'd have to pull a movie line by saying I'd have to kill you, so let's just keep it how it is, sound good?" Lia smiled sweetly at him and put her hand in her jacket pocket. Inside the pocket was her cell phone. A few button clicks later, and the call was on the way.
"I'll be seeing you around Link. Take care." Lia winked at him, waiting for the others to arrive. Whatever Link did now wouldn't particularly matter.
So Lia sent out her power to make him feel lethargic, sleepy. "Sleep, Link," She murmered, knowing that this would distract him for long enough. Even if he fought like he did before he'd be too late. She kept sending out the waves of lethargy to Link, enough to put him to sleep immediately. "I'll see you around, telepath boy,"
When nobody's around
I keep my eyes on the clock
There ain't a cure I've found

He didn't realize what was going on until it was too late. He heard the beep bop boop of buttons, but just kept listening, until it hit him. "Hey! Was that a cellphone?" he asked through rapidly closing eyes. "That was a c-c-" he cut himself off with a big yawn. Sleepy..... suddenly, dreamland seemed like a wonderful place. Silver could bust herself out, he was going to take a vacation with the Sandman. "Hey, wait..." he told Lia slowly. "I'm just going ta take a nap for a moment. Don't go anywhere, I'll be back in a few..."
He sunk to the ground. Mm, who ever knew grass would make such a nice pillow? It was all very cozy. "Nighty night, Lia," he mumbled. "I'll be seeing you around too, Empathy person," then, finally, he fell asleep, very unaware of Lia's plans of the reinforcements. But he didn't care. He was in the coma of sleep.

Lia smiled, reaching down and lifting his wrist up to check his pulse. "Nice and even," She muttered to herself, automatically knowing that he was asleep, even without the double check. His emotions were the calm ones that come from the dreamless state of sleep. He would be fine.
"I wonder if he hears thoughts in his sleep and if they invade his dreams," Lia said out loud, standing up as the guards came. "Mabye I'll ask him in science class," She smirked, walking away as two of the guards picked Link up and took him away. OOC: ^^ Cool! Awesome roleplay! =D I'm going to go make the science class thread. =3 Feel free to come! ^^
