Gift Specification:
Basically, Raisa has moments where she knows the exact location, history, and immediate future of anything and everything within a certain range of herself (right now it's about 1/2 a mile). These moments are brought on by high stress/complete relaxation such as during times that are nearly life-threatening (or equally as stressful in her mind) and when she's asleep. The rest of the time she's a seemingly normal girl who just seems to wake up with a lot of headaches and even nosebleeds on occasion. During these moments, she's also very aware of her power, and pretty much helpless to turn it off. The rest of the time she represses all that knowledge because it's just a little too much for her.Personality:
When in hr more lucid (i.e. not Aware) moments, Raisa's pretty much a normal teen aged girl with normal problems. She likes books and movies and anything that tells a story. In fact, Raisa's a bit of a story teller herself and she uses her odd "dreams" as inspiration for most of her stories, though she doesn't know she's actually pulling inspiration from real things. If she did, Raisa probably wouldn't tell her stories at all and instead keep them in her brain for fear of accidentally upsetting someone.Appearance:
That's one main thing about Raisa; she likes to please people and know that she's appreciated, cared for, and loved. Especially in her lucid and normal state that doesn't know that most of the world uses others to survive anyhow and most caring is probably for the sake of species or self survival... or so that's what the greater mind that comes out when Raisa is in a less "lucid" state would think, but that Raisa's also a lot more pragmatic. After all, why please people when the past and near future are so brutal to begin with? Why not end the misery of just existing and either give them a reason to exist or a way out of this terrible thing called life. Right?
In other words, when in a more "lucid" state, Raisa is sweet, kind, lovely, and very intelligent. Meanwhile, she's also incredibly gullible and will do anything to please. As she also has nearly no social experience with other people, she has a very bad habit of making random social faux pas without realizing what she's doing. She also has a terrible habit of babbling when she's nervous. All in all, she's a bit of a socially clumsy princess minus the royalty or the pretty dresses or anything resembling being a princess. So she's just a nice socially clumsy girl.
The less "lucid" Raisa which is basically Raisa hit with all the harsh truths of reality at once is even more intelligent, bitchy, and a bit homicidal. However, she's also uncoordinated, very weak, and nearly crippled by headaches. Other than that, they're the same girl. Oh, and less "lucid" Raisa has a better sense of humor in that she thinks everything is utterly hilarious, but that is generally overlooked due to the screaming and whimpering.
Standing at the relatively short height of 5'2 1/2 feet tall (that half an inch is VERY important), Raisa can probably be aptly described as "cute". She has dark brown eyes that beg for love and approval and a small mouth that doesn't usually smile (unless she isn't "lucid"). Her skin isn't pale due to the fact that she spent a lot of time outdoors as a child reading books in the sunlight, but due to later confinement as she began to gain "Awareness" more and more, she has grown paler than many ither a more healthy pink hue to her than anything.History:
When in her right mind (so-to-speak), Raisa likes to wear comfortable and colorful clothes, thought her favorite colors are of the bright or pastel variety. Due to the color of her hair (dark brown), she really dislikes wearing the color black. It just makes her all the more pale and most people don't like pale people. She likes to run around bare-footed and will wear anything to remain as close to that state as possible. Shoes are just so confining.
In her less "lucid" state, she's pretty much the same, but a lot more careless about what she's wearing and matching colors. After all, what's so important about that? There's a spider crawling into someone's ear nearby, killing them that's more important that colors.
Raisa is the only child of Kiyoko and Felix Olsen, a business executive and his wife. There would've been more children, but Kiyoko had a number of problems with carrying children to term. Due to this, Kiyoko treated her one child as a priceless gift and loved and coddled her increasingly. Early in her life Raisa spent a lot of time at parks with her mother with books and other things to play with. Outside their house in New England (Connecticut), America, they had a small garden that Raisa helped her mother in from a very, very young age. It was a nice life. The constant absence of her father due to business wasn't really important. Raisa knew she was loved.RP Example:
Then, the trouble started. Initially, they were diagnosed as night terrors. Raisa would wake up in the middle of the night, screaming, sometimes yelling complete nonsense and a lot of profanities. Her mother was very, very distraught at her daughter's condition and tried everything for her. Her father was willing to try anything so that everyone involved could get a good night's rest.
Things just got worse. Hypnotic therapy? That just brought it about more and made everything worse all around. Medication? Too much left her even more crazy. Too little just took everything out of Raisa that made her herself. None of it fixed anything and it all just got progressively worse. Things weren't just happening when Raisa was asleep anymore. Stress, pain, anything that could be perceived as "very, very bad" would bring about the headaches and if things got worse, the "awareness" and her other self. Her parents confined Raisa to her house for the longest time.
That wasn't all. They did a number of things to decrease the stress in their daughter's life. Raisa began to be home-schooled. Raisa's mom began to do everything for her daughter that she could think of to just keep things normal and happy and relaxed and simple. It was a losing battle.
Eventually, they got a letter from Hollowcove Institute, but they didn't accept it right away because they thought things would get better. After a few years of things just steadily getting worse and the death of Kiyoko, Felix decided it would be best just to send his crazy daughter away and move on with his sad life. Raisa went sadly, hoping that things would get better. Mostly she was just happy to get away from the place she had once called home that wouldn't be home without her mother.

Sienna Burgundy Brown walked along the River Tay and thought about... well, to accurately describe the things Sienna thought of would require one to go to the biggest library in the world blow it up (with force not fire), and then grab all the books that came out of such an explosion of force. Weather was nice. Life was fun. She held an open book of Edgar Allen Poe's poems and short stories in her hand that she was reading as she walked alongside the river humming a tune from her home country that also involved a river.
The book had once been black, but now it was just extremely worn and mostly gray. Her hair came down around her shoulders wildly because Sienna had been thinking so much about centrifugal force that she had completely forgotten about her hair. Her currently purple eyes (thank all Gods for colored contacts) were circled with sienna eye-liner (she remembered make-up). Her shoes sat near the water's edge a few miles back because Sienna preferred to walk bare-footed in August. It was just something about the feel of things between her feet... and the fact that she could pick fallen things up with her long toes.
Her top was covered with an orange and red shirt with a big rose on it (even though Sienna hated roses, they still looked pretty on shirts even if they smelled like horse dung). Her bottom was covered by a long black skirt that spread out when she twirled and swished around her legs whens he walked. Swish, swish... swish, swish... heh...
Suddenly, Sienna realized that she had reached then end of her little short story, The Devil in the Belfry. An excellently silly little work by Edgar Allan Poe. She felt so happy with the story that she decided to recite the very last sentence out loud. For, you see, reciting the whole story out loud would be quite ridiculous. Edgar Allan Poe was a much to long-winded personality and that stupid little fellow in the church really didn't need the whole story recited to a river that may decide to take revenge upon it by taking her book away.
Then she realized that the last two sentences would be preferable. "Affairs being thus miserably situated, I left the place in disgust, and now appeal for aid to all lovers of correct time and fine kroot. Let us proceed in a body to the borough, and restore the ancient order of things in Vond-er-vott-iames-itis by ejecting that little fellow from the steeple!" she said victoriously... tripping over that name due to it's long inpronounceableness (no that isn't a word, but she's making it up now).
Then, Sienna dropped the book on the ground with a thunk and twirl for a bit.
Relationships:
None that she's aware of... in her "lucid state"...Other:
If her father was unfaithful to her mother, Raisa really has no way of knowing it normally.
Did I mention how highly sheltered she is?
