Gift: Lumokinesis
Gift Specification:
Photokinesis or Lumokinesis is the ability to mentally alter light particles so that one might be able to increase their vision, generate, manipulate and intensify light at will, change the colors of subjects, perhaps bend light to cast optical illusions, fire offensive rays of light, and even absorb the light around them, making it disappear or engulf them creating a visible aura, allowing them to glow in the dark.Awareness: Unaware
--------------------------------------------
Kenzie's abilities are a little more limited because she still technically believes she's crazy and her powers need much more development. Everywhere she goes, she normally has a glow radiating from/around her, a visible aura if you please, but it's still very dim; a subconscious control over her power she's unaware of. It is much brighter when she's asleep or when her emotions are at a peak level (Extremely happy, sad, excited, mad, etc.). When she opens her eyes to see, her surroundings are normally a lot brighter and more vivid. Clouding her vision is swirls of colorful lights as if she was in a party scene, but it's in a dormant state meaning no one can see it unless she projects it out into the open. The kaleidoscope of colors result in mild occasional epilepsy and when overwhelmed, her body may shut down, leaving her to incoherently babble about the "colors" and the "bright lights".
Personality:
A good way to describe Kenzie would be animated. That, or theatrically dramatic. Her emotions are always played out to their limits. Facial expressions are her forte. Most of the time she's very relaxed and down to earth. She's a free spirit, exhibiting physical humor dancing as she talks and allowing her body to fluidly move all the time. Although this is mostly because she loves to dance. Playing piano is also another beloved hobby.Appearance:
She's kind with a good heart and loves to meet new people. Unlike most of the kids at the institute who prefer to be alone, she has trouble being left alone. She loves to laugh and have a good time. Most of the time her emotions control her and when she falls prey to darker emotions, it quickly shows. Her movements become skittish and frightened. When her powers are overwhelming, her body practically shuts down.
All in all she's eccentric and loving with a sweet pep in her step.
Kenzie stands a little over 5'0” and has a thin, toned figure. Her skin is fair and lightly tanned with a smooth complexion on her face. Radiating from her body is normally a faint glow of light. She has an almost delicate exterior. She has a little more than past shoulder length dark brown, nearly black hair. It's cut into layers, is usually messy from her constant movement, and is mostly straight with moderate waves near the ends. She has smoke grey eyes that occasionally look like a navy blue. Aside from the manditory school uniform, her normal clothing is comfy and casual. Normally, she'll wear a tank top with her dark grey hooded zip up sweater over it with the sleeves bunched up. A pair of jeans and flip flops would top it of, though she also likes wearing her dancing jazz sneakers or character shoes around. Although, every moment of everyday she wears a silver ring with a blue stone that her father gave her and a silver chain necklace with a small silver heart pendent that her mother gave her.History:
Kenzie was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York. She was an only child who belonged to a family who cared for her and loved her very much. She was an average student in school and was well behaved. Because of her enthusiastic and outgoing personality, she didn't have a problem making friends, even if she was sometimes considered odd. She could even, at one point, be considered a social butterfly. From a very young age she loved music and dancing and became involved in community theater and learned to play the piano. Her parents believed they were so blessed to receive such a gifted child.RP Example:
It wasn't until her abilities began to surface that things began to change. Her parents began to notice some changes in her behavior. They would occasionally see her closing her eyes for long periods of time and complaining about how bright everything was. They considered taking her to get her eyes checked out, but decided it couldn't have been much.
Then she had her first epileptic seizure. The epilepsy became more frequent and seemed to be triggered by nothing. As she got older, they became rare. Upon calming down from these sessions, her body would shut down and she would curl into a ball in the corner. Her frightened attitude would lead to the incoherent babbling about "colors" and "swirling lights". Her parents believed these were hallucinations.
Her exterior appeared frantic, frightened, or skittish. She constantly had to move around, yet it's not a terrible problem where she can't sit still. It became a tick. Her parents were so worried and they didn't know what else to do. They called in for professional help, doctors from across the state. The doctors classified her with Schizophrenia, clinically insane. How heart-shattering. They told her she had 24 hours to pack her bags before she would be sent off to Hollowcove Institute.

All she felt was pounding. Her head was already throbbing from the oncoming headache she was soon to endure. No, not a headache; she was sure it wasn't a headache. A migraine. Every distinct noise had her wincing in pain. She held her small, delicate hand against her forehead, holding it steady and softly massaging her temples. She reached into the front pocket of her blue jeans and pulled out a small bottle. Rapidly unscrewing the top, bright red pills poured into her grateful receiving palm. No sooner did she pop them into her mouth, eager to dry swallow them without water.
She groaned, desperate to get out of those crowded halls as quickly as possible. She knew the day the school reopened after summer, all the kids would be pouring in through the doors and instantly flooding the castle.
She was right.
Packed to the walls were hundreds of new and returning students, some who knew exactly where to go, and others who were completely clueless. She felt bad for all those freshman, the scared and the hardasses, who knew nothing of the school and had no idea what they were getting themselves into. The thought made a wicked smile curl into her lips, but it disappeared as fast as it appeared. The use of facial expressions made her head hurt more.
The teachers and staff were always assigned on the first day back to stand in the main hall, subjected to answer any questions the students might have. She fingered the name tag sticker that clung to her fitted black long sleeved turtle neck. It read her name in bold red letters on a white background. The side of her lip twitched. Her pace increased as she looked for the door out to the back of the school. The meadow would be a great place for her to clear her head of the noise. She placed a sturdy hand on the door handle and jerked it open with a strong grip.
The bright autumn sun engulfed her. She closed her crimson eyes and just stood in the doorway to take it in. She let in a deep breath. The air was crisp and chilly, just the way she liked it. Softly closing the doors behind her, careful not to make it slam in concern of her head, she stepped out into the large meadow. Beyond the tall grasses, the school was surrounded by rows of tall trees as far as the eye could see. It was like a barrier to the outside world, a fortress, but at the same time it wasn't. There was so much beyond those trees for the students. From mountains to hot springs, it was like a haven no one could ever dream of.
The sea of green crunched beneath her tan boots. She could already feel the pain in her head go away. Nothing better than nature to cure a hard headache. Her eyes scanned over the meadow. Everything was so familiar to her, so homey.
But then there was something that wasn't so familiar. Her eyes curiously narrowed and her head tilted to the side in a reflex-like position. Some of her coal black bangs fell into her face, while the strands on the right side of her head that were tied with a thin piece of tan leather stayed in place. As she readjusted herself, she finally realized it was a boy.
Well, if you can call him a boy.
He was tall, with a rough looking exterior. What was he doing out here alone? Ha, probably the same reason she was; to escape the crowd. She became curious of him now. Slowly, she walked over to him, hoping not to disturb anything. She hated walking into people's personal "me" time. She leaned against the trunk of a tree, almost peering over at him.
"Mind if I join you?"
