Zasha can create illusions of all five kinds (visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory and gustatory), but the strongest ones, and the ones she produces the most, are tactile illusions. It is extremely rare for her to produce olfactory or gustatory illusions (smell and taste). She usually produces either extremely strong tactile illusions with no accompanying visual or auditory illusion, or illusions that can be seen, felt and heard but are very weak.

Personality:

Zasha is confident and sensible - most of the time. She speaks to strangers easily, although hardly ever makes the first move, but often appears to be off in her own world. Her practicality and down-to-earth nature seem to be at odds with her apparent craziness and habit of talking to herself, unless you are one of the few that know that she isn't actually insane. Most people, especially illusionists, are visually-oriented - Zasha is touch-oriented, contributing to the frequency of her tactile illusions. She is a very "touchy-feely" person, and quite huggy with people she feels she can trust, even if she has only just met them.

Zasha has an "imaginary friend" - a dog, of variable and indeterminate size and unspecified breed, called Jack. When he is visible, Jack's fur is mottled black, gold and red-brown, and of variable length. Jack was born when Zasha first went to boarding school, from her loneliness. Although she doesn't have any idea of it, the dog is simply an extension of her own personality, and except for this, does not exist.

Appearance:

Zasha has long straight black hair with red-brown streaks, dark eyelashes, and greenish-hazel eyes that blend to orange between the green and hazel. She is tanned and small of frame, but strong-looking. She has short fingernails and short fingers, and her hands are calloused from a youth of rock climbing and horse riding.

Zasha has two gold rings in each earlobe that are usually covered by her hair. Her mufti clothes consist of cargo pants or denim shorts, and an arsenal of black singlets. She often wears a black fedora with light grey pinstripes.

History:

For the first ten years of her life, Zasha lived happily and uneventfully in Russia with her French-Russian father and Chinese mother. Her parents were rich and she, their only child, was pampered. Holidays were spent in Beijing with her mother's parents or on her French grandmother's country estate south of Paris, and she was raised quadri-lingual from an early age. When she was ten, she was shipped off to an overseas boarding school. The pampered little rich girl broke under the stress of being away from her home and parents and being bullied by the students at her new school. She lashed out, hurting people without touching them, as if with a force field, and retreating into herself and her new "friend". Over time, Jack gave her the confidence to emerge from her shell and talk to real humans, but her continued strange behaviour and occasional violent outbursts kept her bouncing between various boarding schools until it was eventually determined that she was insane. She has now only just arrived at Hollowcove.
