Ebony This painting sucks, doesn't it? After rummaging through the art closet, I found a few paints, a paint brush and some canvas. It was the weekend, so no teachers should be in here... I put the canvas upon the wooden stilt. I looked at the canvas and grabbed a pencil. Carefully, I started to make random shapes with the pencil. I walked to my back and pulled out a stereo I brought with me. I put it on the stereo on a table and turned it on to the radio. Evanescence was on and playing "My Immortal." I sang along to it as I grabbed a cup and filled it with water. I found a pallet and squirted the paint onto it. I started to mix some of the colors to get a better variety.
I gently wet the brush and put some paint on it. I softly put the brush on the canvas and started to paint. Well, like most people, when you paint, you get messy. Within two minutes, I had a bright orange splattered on my cheek, a dark blue on my arm, and a bunch more colors that coated my fingers. I had my hair back as usual and leaned in close to the canvas. To me, it looked like some kind of church. A sanctuary. Well, it made sense. In a church you have freedom and that's what I want. I want to get out of here and be free.
I wiped my nose and blinked a couple of times. I looked back at the picture and frowned. "How come every time I make a painting, it sucks?" I asked myself, turning my head to see if I could get something else out of it. I let out a groan and grabbed a small towel. I poured water on it and tried to take the paint off of my hands. An image passed through my head of millions of kids wiping their hands on this towel, the towel going through the wash, and teachers handing the students the towel, but I banished it. I didn't want an image blocking my view of the painting right now.

Sophia stared at the empty canvas in front of her. Her fingers were awkwardly grabbing a paintbrush. She was not the best painter, but she did consider herself a fairly advanced artist. She used granite though, and paints were not her forte, per say.
To her right was an experienced girl. Her fine black hair was pulled back tightly, and her eyes were focused on her work. Sophia watched as the girl put blues here, greens there, and some red accents every now and then. Sophia smiled to herself, for the girl was almost as colorful as the painting. Sophia glanced back at her own, blank canvas. She fumbled to dip her paintbrush in a ruby red, shining with potential. She was lost as what to paint, so she closed her eyes, looked away, and flicked the tool around on the canvas.
She peeked at her " art " , but it was only a horrible mess of lines. She heard the young artist criticize her own work, scowling at the look of it. She somewhat gasped to herself. Not wanting to be too loud, she said in a low voice. " english gothic.. it's pretty. " her voice quivered. She recognized the architecture quite easily, for her father was an expert at the art. She glanced back to her mess of reds and sighed. " better than that.
" she glared painfully at her work.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Ebony It seems... nice. I turned around and finally noticed another girl in the room. I quickly turned off the stereo and blushed lightly. I looked at her picture. I put my hand on my chin, and another on my hip, scrutinizing it. "Well, if you... I mean.... Okay, if you turn your head to the right, it sort of looks like an angry octopus." I giggled slightly. I moved my eyes to look at the girl who drew the painting.
She had brown hair that looked somewhat unkempt and dark eyes that told me she didn't get much sleep. "Hey, I'm Ebony." Yeah... I only came up to the shoulder, so I felt like a midget. I yawned and stretched a little. It's like painting takes all the energy out of me.

Seemingly surprised, the short girl's face filled with a blossoming pink. It flooded her features, but faded almost just as quickly. This left her face a healthy shade of pink, blushed. Sophia half smiled at her embarrassment, but thought nothing much of it. The girl pulled her hand to her face, and the other on her hip. Her face was cocked to the side a little to examine her " art " that she had created.
" Well, if you... I mean.... Okay, if you turn your head to the right, it sort of looks like an angry octopus."
She managed to giggle in a half-serious tone. Sophia turned her head to the right, and laughed as well. She could see where the girl could have gotten that from. " or perhaps just a bowl of spaghetti sauce gone mad. " she said in a sarcastic manner. It was a lot of words compared to her usual sayings. Most of the time, she was lucky to get two or three syllables out.
The girl offered a greeting, with a short smile. Her name was Ebony. Or at least, that is what she wanted to me called. Sophie pulled the corners of her mouth up a little, flashing a small row of teeth, and offered a small curtsy. " sophia.. " she said softly. However, trying to engage the girl to talk, rather than talk herself, she inquired. " tired after only one painting? "

Ebony It seems... nice. I giggled and put my hands in my pockets. True, I was suddenly tired after my painting, but I didn't get any sleep last night. I don't know... I just sat up, looking straight at the ceiling all night long. I guess I never noticed what time it was. It didn't matter--it's the weekend. It can't hurt me. "Sort of. I got no sleep last night... Plus the fact that I went jogging in the gym earlier today and I haven't eaten since lunch yesterday... Yeah, I'm really tired." I groaned the last part out. Now my stomach growled. I laughed a little.
