Hanna Angelo Why Can't Anyone Hear My Screams? Hanna walked into the art room silently. Going to the closet she took out a few paints and an empty canvas, setting it up on the easel. Setting up the paints on a palette and got out a brush. She dipped the brush into a deep blue and started painting. She didn't really think, just let her mind wander. She used all different colors, swirling the brush over the page. No one was in the room and she was fine with that. Not one much for company or conversations, she had chosen to be mute, she was okay.

Josh stepped out of a supplies cupboard, clutching the pencils he had come for, and paused, hearing the faint scratching of paintbrush on canvas in the silent room. He followed the sound carefully and emerged from the maze of easels and desks behind a girl with long, jet-black hair. She was swirling blue paint all over her canvas. Some sort of expressionist thing. He stepped towards her, watching over her shoulder as she painted.

Hanna Angelo Why Can't Anyone Hear My Screams? Hanna continued to paint, adding in different colors the whole time. When she thought she heard someone behind her she spun around. She saw the guy there and smiled a little. She turned back to the painting then, which didn't look like much of anything except for tiny swirls in different colors and continued. She wondered why the boy was here but didn't really mind. She was used to people coming and leaving because she wouldn't speak. She turned around again to see if the boy was still there and to see what he was doing.

Josh stayed standing exactly the way he was when the girl turned around, not jumping back guiltily or trying to make it look like he hadn't been watching her. He smiled slowly and nodded in response to the girl's brief smile, but then she turned around again. He frowned and shifted his weight onto the other leg, but she turned back soon and looked at him again. Hey. He stepped closer to her and gestured towards the painting with the smallest of head movements. That looks good. What's the story with it?

Hanna looked back at the painting and back at him. She sighed a little. Not speaking was so annoying at times. About a minute later she smiled a little again. Hello. she said, very quietly. Hanna heard him talking again and looked at him. Oh, well it is not done yet, but when it is it'll hopefully look like the water behind my house where I used to live. she told him. I'm Hanna. She spoke rather quietly, having not spoken for five or six years.

Josh waited patiently while she looked back and forth between him and the painting, sighing. He could sense a feeling of frustration, which seemed odd. Maybe she was having difficulty with her painting. After what seemed like an age and a half, she spoke. He almost didn't hear her - her voice was incredibly quiet, and the part of his mind responsible for hearing was partially occupied by listening to her emotions, not her voice. He mentally shook himself out of his distraction. Something about water, and a house... not important. Hanna, eh? He stepped a fraction closer, with a hint of a smile. I'm Josh.
