THE N I G H T M A R E
Sometimes things are not always as they seem to be. The Hollowcove Institute is a jail-like series of buildings forty-three miles from the nearest inhabitated building, and they have a reason for being so far away from other humans.
Before a student steps into the institution they have already experienced more suffering than any normal humans can conceive. They have undergone ridicule, burdened by their strange power, and have been, of course, accused of insanity. But once they take that first step inside, all of this is brought to a whole new level.
The teachers, some of whom are gifted themselves, alone are almost more than can be handled. Their job is two things: one, keep the children thinking they're insane. If they ever caught on, the students would try and cheat the testing. And two, test the children and figure out the depths of their gifts. Once the depth of the power is known (which is usually discovered within the first month of school) the real games begin. They then use the power against the students, playing "mind games," so to speak to develop the power. Most testing and mind games go on during individual and group therapy sessions. However, that doesn't stop the teachers from occasionally making jabs during normal class. This is done in such a way that though the power increases in strength, the child has no knowledge. If the kid knew of theiir growing power, they would understand that they are not insane. And then would come the trouble: the kids trying to escape.
The secret objective of the Hollowcove Institute is to create living weapons. They don't just want soldiers- if the kids thought for themselves and decided to turn against the teachers chaos would ensue. No; it is far easier to break them down to the point of submission. Unknowing of their power and robotic under the influence of the institute they would become controllable weapons. Of course, not everyone who enters the Hollowcove Institute will make to this point. And no one who enters ever escapes.
To survive at the Hollowcove Institute means a world of trouble for the students. They must unknowingly learn to control their power while the adults consistently convince them they are, indeed, insane. They have to mentally and physically battle the other kids almost every day. After all not every kid here is mentally sound and all of them have formidable weapons.
But the greatest challenge is ahead of them. The day will come when they will be put to the ultimate test. Will the teachers be satisfied with what they have become, or does a different fate await them?
And if they fail, there won't be a second chance. Then it'll be either escape...
...or death.
Are you ready?
